Ms. Kalie from Symroc Canada visited FGEE on 2-3 November 2021 for research and development collaboration to empower the GeoAI, Smarter Map and LiDAR Lab internationalization and research. The main purpose of the visit was to discuss transferring the Ultrawide Broadband Vibration Sensing System technology to GeoAI Lab and support research projects at FGEE. This technology delivers the highest quality vibration data, covering the widest frequency range in real-time to provide critical insight to support proactive maintenance and efficient operation optimization. It applies to earthquakes, landslides, glacial, transportation and many other disciplines.

Professor Guoxiang Liu, the Executive Dean of the faculty, welcomed her and stressed further collaboration and implementing the system technology to the FGEE research projects. He also emphasized the real-time data collection from this sensor can be applied to various projects in landslides and natural hazards and disasters monitoring. Adam/Saeid Pirasteh suggested utilizing this system technology can contribute to loss reduction and disaster management particularly, the early warning systems.

Both parties agreed to continue collaboration and sign MOU for further potential scientific opportunities.
