On September 23-25, 2017, “Field Quality Inspection of Second-Level Project of Geophysical Survey on Gansu Province and the Chengdu-Lanzhou Traffic Corridor” — workshop of Engineering Geological Survey and Mapping at the Eastern Part of the Tibet Plateau, sponsored by the Institute of Geomechanics, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, was successfully held in Mao County, Sichuan Province.

For this conference, it was divided into three main topics: (1) invited reports on regional engineering geological surveys; (2) exchanges and discussions on the progress of important active tectonics and regional engineering geological survey projects; (3) discussion on typical engineering geological problems of Chengdu-Lanzhou traffic corridors.

Representatives attending the conference includes: Chief, Secondary Project Leader, Subproject Leader, Entrusted Business Leader and Technical Backbone of the “Key Activities and Regional Engineering Geological Survey Project”; Related leaders and experts from China Geological Survey Water Circle Department, Geomechanics Research Institute, China Geological Survey Northwest Project Office, Maoxian Land and Resources Bureau, Songpan County Land and Resources Bureau, Sichuan Geospatial Institute, and China Railway Second Institute.

Invited by the organizers, Prof. Cheng Qiangong made an invited report entitled “Rock avalanche dynamics and disaster prevention and control mechanism in the eastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau”.
