On June 6, 2018, the qualification assessment meeting of degree authorization centers in Geological Resources and Geological Engineering, and Geological Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University was held at 9:00 a.m. in the conference room 269 of comprehensive building. The expert members attending this meeting include: Professor Tang Huiming, national teacher, chairman of the Teaching Steering Committee of Geological Specialty of the Ministry of Education, Convener of the Discipline Review Group of "Geological Resources and Geological Engineering" of the State Council, Vice-Chairman of Engineering Geology Committee of Geological Society of China, deputy Party secretary of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Professor Liu Changwu, College of Water Resourse and Hydropower, Sichuan University, Professor Juneng Pan, Chengdu University of Technology; Professor Qin Qirong, Southwest Petroleum University, and researcher Ma Huiming, Vice President of China Academy of Railway Sciences.

Professor Pu Yun, Vice President of Southwest Jiaotong University, Pang Lixin, Vice Director of Strategic and Discipline Department, Zou Yang, Director of Professional Degree Office of Graduate School, Professor Liu Guoxiang, Dean of Faculty of Geoscience and Environmental Engineering, Professor Wang Qirong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Professor Qihua, Vice President, Hu Qiwen, Vice President, Professor Wu Xiyong, Chairman of Geological Engineering Department, and some teachers and students participated in this meeting. The meeting was chaired by Professor Qihua.

First, Pu Yun made a speech and warmly welcomed the experts. He said that Geological Engineering of this university is the only one in the field of railway transit in China. At present, Department of Geological Engineering has many innovative research teams with strong discipline innovation ability in the field of rail transit and the field of geological engineering.

Then, Hu Xiewen made a qualification assessment report on the first-class doctor's degree authorization center in Geological Resources and Geological Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University, and introduced the general situation of this discipline and the recent developments of degree authorization center mainly from the professional overview, educational objectives, quality assurance and continuous improvement of four aspects.

Wu Xiyong made a qualification assessment report on the master's degree authorization center in Geological Engineering, and introduced the achievements and developments in recent years in detail.

In the process of inquiry, Prof. Ju Nengpan, Prof. Liu Changwu, Prof. Qin Qirong and Prof. Ma Huiming put forward suggestions respectively on the training objectives of postgraduates, the international influence of disciplines, the construction of scientific research teams, and the development and evaluation of characteristic courses. Prof. Tang Huiming gave a summary talk and put forward valuable suggestions on curriculum design, interdisciplinary development and diversity construction of discipline education and teaching.

At the end of this meeting, discipline assessment experts gave feedback after expert group discussions. Thus, the qualification assessment meeting of degree authorization centers in Geological Resources and Geological Engineering, and Geological Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University has been successfully held.
