Research team of Professor Cheng Qiangong went to High Resolution Sichuan Center to discuss cooperation matters

September 2nd, the deputy Director of the Department of Geology and Engineering, Professor Cheng Qiangong, led the "high-speed long-range landslide dynamics and disaster prevention and control mechanism" scientific research team to High Resolution Sichuan Center for academic exchanges, and high division of Sichuan Central Scientific research team to explore in the "along the way" background. The discussion is concerned with the research on the dynamics of high speed remote landslide and the mechanism of disaster prevention and control in the alpine gorge area of Sichuan-Tibet railway. The discussion carried out in the conference room of High Resolution Sichuan Center. High Resolution Sichuan Center Director Wang Shizhong, deputy director Yang Wenxiang, Engineer Xu Luzhu and Zhao Juan, etc., participated in the disscussion.

In the academic exchange, Professor Cheng on the basis of the key projects of the "area along the road", expressed research new ideas, content, technical plan, research features and innovation on Sichuan-Tibet Railway High Mountain Canyon geological Hazard Control. Then, the discussion expounded the urgency of the current construction of Sichuan-Tibet Railway, and pointed out the important value of the research as well as the importance of remote sensing image analysis in this study, which is based on the situation of absolute elevation of terrain, high difference of topography, high and steep slope development, etc. of Sichuan-Tibet railway. Professor Cheng expressed the hope that the High Resolution of Sichuan Center to carry out cooperative research.

Thereafter, Professor Wang Fawu, the overseas dean of our colledge, gave a full affirmation and objective evaluation to the research achievements of Professor Cheng in the field of high speed remote landslide geology disaster, and again emphasized the scientific value and social benefit of this project, and discusses the special area along Sichuan-Tibet Railway, with the help of remote sensing technology. He also pointed out the need to obtain accurate data information for the project. We earnestly hoped to be able to make good use of the rich data platform of Sichuan Center, obtaining accurate remote sensing image data along Sichuan-Tibet railway, pushing forward the research work smoothly, exploring effective geological disaster control system and contributing to the social and economic development of mountain areas in China.

After listening to the detailed introduction of two professors in our college, High Resolution Sichuan Center director Wang Shizhong showed a strong interest in the National Science Foundation and wished to work with Southwest Jiaotong University, and will fully support the development of the research project, and put forward the earnest hope on the project: (1) Hope Southwest Jiaotong University and High Resolution Sichuan Center sign official approval, jointly promote the research project development; (2) hope that Southwest Jiaotong University can give full play to its advantages in traffic planning, geological disaster management, etc. The research results of this project are transformed into relatively mature application systems to solve practical problems, to realize the social benefits of project research results, to serve the society, and to contribute to the development of economic society in China and Sichuan. (3) Hope that the two sides will cooperate in the study period, The relevant researchers of Southwest Jiaotong University can regularly report the progress of the research to the Sichuan Center in order to promote the effective cooperation between the two sides and promote the smooth development of the project. (4) The data should be kept strictly confidential and shall not be used for other purposes. (5) The High speed Remote landslide disaster prevention and control mechanism studied by Prof. Cheng's team is not only applicable to the prevention and control of major geologic hazards along Sichuan-Tibet railway, but also the prevention and control of similar geological hazards in southwestern mountainous areas. Finally, the High Resolution Sichuan Center discussed on the demarcation of the Tibetan grassland, slope grassland discrimination, such as the major social and economic issues of the people's livelihood with Professor Cheng, and signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two sides. The two sides reached a preliminary cooperation agreement in a pleasant atmosphere.
