The fifth council of GNSS and LBS Association of China “Education and Development Technical Committee (EDPB)” held the first meeting at Wuhan University. The meeting took the election at expiration of office terms. Our university was elected as the deputy director’s unit of the EDPB. Associate professor Linguo Yuan was selected as the vice-chairman.

The committee members discussed and communicated on the working plan in 2016, holding the lecturing contest and academic conference of young teachers, compiling textbooks, committee website construction and so on. The meeting also made the meeting holding mechanism clear, plan the work schedule of 2016, and made decisions on the topics and locations of the meetings in 2016.

GNSS and LBS Association of China (GLAC) was formerly named China Technical Application Association for Global Positioning System which was established in September 1995, and has the current name from September 2012. GLAC is the national industry associate of satellite navigation and location services. It is a non-profit national associate approved by Ministry of Civil Affairs. GLAC is in the charge of State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping. GLAC has near 2000 members, 450 director units and standing director units. The member units include the public institutions, universities, research institutions, social organizations, which work on the research, production and management of GNSS and location services. At present, GLAC has 18 Technical Committees. The main business of the Education and Development Technical Committee is to carry out teaching research, academic communication, scientific contest of youth, as well as popularization activities of science and technology for the applications and developments of GNSS and location services.
